PayU Groupon voucher campaign


  1. This Campaign is promoted by PayU Payment Solutions (Pty) Ltd, an online payment service provider incorporated under the laws of South Africa (registration number 2009/017393/07) (“PayU”, “us”, “we” or “our”), in partnership with Twangoo South Africa (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2010/013363/07) (“Groupon”) is offering Groupon vouchers (“Voucher”) on a first come, first serve basis via Groupon’s computer systems for redemption against products offered at Groupon retail stores in South Africa. 
  2. Each Voucher is valued at an amount of R100.00 (one hundred South African Rands).
  3. This Campaign is available to South African residents who are least 18 years old or older. 
  4. To qualify for a Voucher, you will be required to:
    1. log into the PayU consumer portal (https://consumerportal.payu.co.za/users/login/) and activate your PayU Wallet Account. To activate your PayU Wallet, you should load your credit card or cheque card or both details to your secure PayU Wallet profile;
    2. make a purchase at one of the many participating merchants or buy prepaid airtime or prepaid electricity from the PayU consumer portal. There is no minimum spend amount for you to qualify.

  6. Each PayU Wallet user is only entitled to one Voucher. We reserve the right to disqualify any user from participating in the Campaign who we reasonably believe has created multiple PayU Wallet Accounts for the purpose of obtaining multiple Vouchers.
  7. You are responsible for the cost (if any) associated with downloading and/or accessing your Voucher from your computer or mobile device.
  8. We accept no responsibility for Vouchers that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason.
  9. There are 10 000 Vouchers up for grabs in this Campaign. This Campaign is therefore subject to availability and limited stocks apply.
  10. The Campaign opens at 08:00 on 15 July 2015 and closes at 11:50 on 31 July 2015 (or earlier if there are no remaining Vouchers as per paragraph 9). No Vouchers will be provided outside this time period.
  11. If you qualify for a Voucher in accordance with these Rules, PayU will send you an email or sms containing a Groupon Voucher code.  When you receive this email or sms containing your Voucher code, Groupon will handle the rest. Your Voucher and the use of your Voucher is in accordance with Groupon’s standard terms and conditions, which is accessible at www.groupon.co.za. It is your responsibility to ensure that you understand and read Groupon’s terms and conditions.
  12. Vouchers are non-exchangeable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash or other monetary value. PayU reserves the right to substitute a Voucher with alternatives of similar value in the event that the original vouchers are not available for any reason.
  13. PayU shall use and take care of any personal information you supply to it as described in its https://www.payu.co.za/legal/privacy-policy, and in accordance with data protection legislation. You consent to us contacting you about your Voucher, for marketing purposes, and for Voucher administration.
  14. PayU may pass your personal information to carefully selected service providers and/or otherwise engage third party service providers in connection with this Campaign where the third party is acting on PayU’s behalf for the purposes of administering this Campaign, and/or for the purposes of sending you more information about PayU’s products or services relating to your PayU Wallet; and/or as otherwise required by law.  You can opt out from receiving any information from PayU at any time.  We do not sell your personal information.
  15. PayU accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of applying for a Voucher or accepting a Voucher. PayU further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to your or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Campaign. Nothing in these Rules shall exclude the liability of PayU under law for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence.
  16. PayU reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Campaign with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its reasonable control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of PayU in all matters relating to the Campaign is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  17. PayU shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations relating to this Campaign where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. This includes any act or omission by Groupon or any other third party.
  18. If the Campaign is regulated by the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, it is not intended that any provision of these Rules contravenes any provision of the Consumer Protection Act and therefore all provisions of these Rules must be treated as being qualified, if necessary, to ensure that the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act are complied with.
  19. The Campaign and these Rules will be governed by the laws of South Africa and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African Courts.
